Go one step further
For many of our customers the ‘off the shelf’ product fits their requirements perfectly, but where they have a specific requirement we can often help by building a new tool, or extending an existing feature to help it fit.

Bespoke doesn't automatically mean expensive, as we would like to illustrate with some examples below, and many of the tools we have created have been built, tested, and deployed in less than a day.

Scenario 1
One of our customers often sends out questionnaires to their customers, to find out what items they are interested in. When this information comes back, they wanted to store it against the customer record in GoldMine. The plan was to hold the information as detail records in their own tab. The problem was that faced with a flood of information the users found entering the details in GoldMine too cumbersome, and it was often prone to duplication where more than one of the same detail was entered. It was possible for up to 20 details to be entered from a single questionnaire.

The solution was to create a small custom application that would read the details already present against the record and let the user add new items simply by placing a tick in a tick box. It presented the most up to date list of items so that if multiple details needed to be added they could be added in a single operation.

Scenario 2
For a customer who sell mostly ‘off brochure’ and at any given time has between 10 and 15 brochures available depending on the type of product required and the brand name associated with that product, they wanted to use GoldMine as the front end for their brochure fulfilment system, as all the customer details were already stored here. Things were made more complicated by the fact that due to the size and weight of the brochures it would only be possible for a customer to order a maximum of 2 at any time, and also the tele-sales staff would need to know when brochures were out of stock, or on pre-order when they spoke to the customer. In addition the system needed to capture a 'response code' to provide the source of the enquiry so this could be analysed later by their MIS team.

Our solution was to produce an ordering tool that displayed the correct list of brochures once the brand had been selected, and alerted the user if there was insufficient customer details to be able to deliver the brochure, and also prevented ordering of more than the maximum number.
