Scenario 2 - an overview

For a customer who sell mostly ‘off brochure’ and at any given time has between 10 and 15 brochures available depending on the type of product required and the brand name associated with that product, they wanted to use GoldMine as the front end for their brochure fulfilment system, as all the customer details were already stored here. For the first step in the ordering process the tool would check the address of the current GoldMine record (if the person phoning in did not already have a record they would create it), and only allow the brochures to be ordered if there was sufficient information recorded to allow the brochure to be delivered.

Things were made more complicated by the fact that due to the size and weight of the brochures it would only be possible for a customer to order a maximum of 2 at any time, and also the tele-sales staff would need to know when brochures were out of stock, or on pre-order when they spoke to the customer.

Our solution was to produce an ordering tool that displayed the correct list of brochures once the brand had been selected, and also prevented ordering of more than the maximum number.
The system would also prompt the user to enter a 'response code' for the brochure order, which could be analysed later by the MIS department to allow them to track the source of each enquiry and allow them to target their advertising spend more effectively.

Time to create: Between 6-8 hours.
